A major problem with Linux Distros is Drivers. And of course it's hard to include all the drivers out there in a distro. But if an open source project focuses only on drivers and develops a tool that will install all your drivers from the internet from the Distros installation point, I believe that the problem will be absolutely solved.

I agree that having a single place for tech support articles and tutorials would be a good idea, but I do not think yet another forum and set of wikis is the best solution. Instead, I think users should be presented with an increasingly specific sequence of choices that allows them to narrow things down to either their specific issue or at least a manageable number of articles. A list of professional looking up to date screen capture videos of Linux in action would be the most powerful marketing tool for open source.

Take the 5 top Linux distros and make online training videos, so people can learn Linux. It can be done like video wikis so that as distros change the training videos will change as well. All of this could be maintained through contributions by the various Linux communities. Also as problems arise it would be good to video the problem and the solution so that people could see both.
