I often read in books and articles that the command line is the real power of Linux. My submission is for a more intensive focus via video tutorials on the command line. Also include the various shells, bash, csh, ksh and others so people can really see and use this Power. I agree wholeheartedly with ubducteds post,.... A Structured Lesson Plan, as well as DaddyG`s.... Possibly include a wiki-like section with man pages of common command line tools. These pages could include examples of their usages in an easy to understand format so that beginners are not overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information in a man page.
Taking the 'man grep' for example, the sheer amount of information in the man page is quite overwhelming for a beginner. In this wiki page, T Read More »

Promotional Material
Posted by duke 264 days agoIt would be good if there was a central place on Linux.com with promotional material to get more people using Linux.
It could be a community place where users submit things in different categories such as fliers, posters, videos.
Businesses then could send these out to clients to try and promote the advantages of going with a Linux solution. Read More »
Linux.com Manifesto / Principles / Vision / Code / etc...

Thanks for letting the community be involved in Linux.com's development. It's exciting to have the opportunity to help shape what may become the face of Linux on the web.
A lot of open source projects seem to have manifesto's. I've poured through the ideas on the site but haven't come across much discussion of manifesto's or guiding principles for Linux.com. Where are the things that Read More »

There are many source of Linux information on the web. Linux.com will now be one of them. But across all the various other publication and authors some write stories that are deserving of recognition.
Why not have an award system from Linux.com that recognizes the best in Linux Journalism? There could be different categories ranging from best story to best review. Read More »
