I personally would go with Linux Distro of the fortnight! Here is how we can go about it :
* Get a list of *all* the Linux Distros (keep adding the new ones as and when they pop)
* Poll every fortnight as to which will be featured in the coming week.
* The users of the featured distro can highlight all the pros and cons about the distro; what special features does it have, how is it differe

Linux Uses by non-techies
Posted by nycjeff 247 days ago
It could be a feature or something that shows how linux can be used by people who aren't formally in the computer fields.
i.e. how is this elementary school teacher using linux?
How is this screenwriter using linux?

Iusethis.com-like "social" application database
Posted by voxel 252 days ago
An app database like Iusethis.com (http://osx.iusethis.com/). It would be great for users looking for suitable applications for themselves. A Digg.com style voting system helps users to pick out software that is popular among other users.

proprietary plug-in free web site
Posted by wolfspider 262 days ago
Create a web site that does not need any proprietary plug-in for the users browser of choice. In that way a first time Linux user can be worry free when accessing information. There should however be a set of test pages so that a user can verify if in fact a browser is working, as he/she would expect.

Sponsor programming of features/software

There are many end-users willing to pay for improvements to free software and writing new programs. There are also many talented programmers wanting to get paid to work on free software. Extreme Introduction to Linux

I see this site as nothing but a black background, with a youtube video embedded in the center. This video would present Linux by explaining what Linux is and what it can do to the kind of people who don't understand words Read More »

Incentive the participation of Women in Linux World
Posted by linda 257 days ago
Hello my friends! We also know that Linux World does not (appropriate) incentive the participation of women. There are milions of potential women that want to be part of the Linux World. To approach that, we can create a set of tasks to help women to join this World.
We can start this task in common with all approved projects. We don't need to create some specific projects. We can make this i Read More »

Understanding Open Source Applications and How they Work
Posted by jamespyles 262 days ago
It occurs to me that there are far more open source applications available than Linux distros, and apps that especially the neophyte Linux user isn't aware of or doesn't understand. How about a searchable repository of all of the FOSS apps, which ones are available for which distros, how they're installed, and so on? Part of winning the OS war for the minds and hearts of the PC user is to show
